Japanese Etiquette (Reishiki) - Hall Layout

Line-up in grade order along Shimoza, facing Kamiza, Senior to Junior from Joseki to Shimozeki.

During Rei (Bow) at start, say "O negashimas sensei/s"
    Pronounced "ON EGGA ISH IM AS SEN SAY/S"
    Means "Please will you give us your knowledge, teacher/s"

During Rei (Bow) at end, say "Domo Arigato Gozamashita sensei/s"
    Pronounced "DOE MOW ARI GAR TOE, GOES AM MASTA, SEN SAY/S"
    Means "Thank you for giving us your knowledge, teacher/s"

During instruction:

Line-up in grade order along Shimozeki, facing Instructors in Joseki, Seniors nearer Kamiza.

Rei (bow) as you:

Enter/Leave the Dojo
Enter/Leave the Mat
Start and completion of a technique
Start and Completion of contest.

General Rules

Judoka (Judo Practitioner) should never turn their back on Kamiza.
Photo's and awards should be displayed on Shimoseki.
Weapons displayed/stored on Joseki.
Training equipment should be stored in Shimoza.
Entrances can be in Shimoza. or Shimoza end of Joseki or Shimozeki.

(This is said to be so that Kamiza, the high seat. The Senior grades will be protected from invaders by the Junior judoka, who get killed first. Sounds fair!!).
